If the URL, the header and the obnoxious amount of branding weren’t obvious enough… my name is Annabelle Kayye.
I am a senior at the University of South Carolina. I major in advertising and minor in graphic design and I am weirdly obsessed with advertising. I know that everyone says they like their major but I LOVE mine. I love talking about it, reading about it, learning about it and there’s nothing that makes me more excited than working on a campaign. I love everything about it — the good and the bad.
Unfortunately, I am a sneakerhead which makes my bank account very sad. I find the intersection of streetwear and high fashion very interesting. If you see me on my phone I am almost always not texting and most likely reading High Snobiety, Sneakernews, Complex, Vogue or about ads.
This past year has been a complete whirlwind. In May of 2018, I packed my car and drove across the country to Southern California where I had a summer internship at Urban Decay — a cosmetic company owned by L’Oreal. Five days after the end of my internship, I hopped on a plane to Sydney, Australia — I worked for the rAVe Agency at an audiovisual tradeshow called, Integrate. Approximately a week later, I flew to Bangkok, Thailand where I spent three months studying at Mahidol University’s International College. During the week I integrated myself into local Thai culture. On the weekends I traveled to several cities in Thailand and across Southeast Asia. Seven hours after my last exam, I left Bangkok and spent a month traveling around Asia.
Of all the places I went, there was one that I can’t get out of my head — I fell in love with Tokyo, Japan.
My dream is to find an advertising agency or in-house advertising and marketing position in Tokyo after I graduate in May 2019. If Tokyo doesn’t work out, I would be perfectly happy living in New York City or Los Angeles.
